Wallet stories...

Love anecdotes like this one (plus pic) I got today from the CEO of Communication Resources, Inc., Randy Coy. (They publish stuff for church leaders.)

David, I saw your "evening module" wallet on your blog and knew I wanted it. But for $99 did I need it? On to the maybe/someday list it went. And then one day during a review, I figured if I could order it in 2 minutes, I'm going to go for it. Let me tell you - when I opened that outer box I knew I hadn't bought a wallet notetaker. I had just bought an experience. Like a fine bottle of wine, uncorking the bottle and pouring into into the perfect glass is about half the fun for me. The heavy embossed outer box...oh man... I new there was a a goody inside! Then, oh my gosh: black tissue paper. A notecard from David helping to "experience" the notebook. A laugh as I read to my wife, yep, even user instructions "tear off paper and place in inbasket.." Extra supplies... a wallet with leather I knew from experience would age perfectly (as you promised it would.) Fortunately, I had mind like water from the morning review so I spent the next guilt-free hour playing with my wallet and showing it to my kids ("Yea, Dad that's a really cool...uh.... what did you call it?" It is an evening module!) A final side benefit: I attacked the last bastion of "junk bunkers" - my wallet (which had become quite the George Costanza wallet). I'm not postive yet, but I think my new evening module can be my all day module too. I've found a better place for the not often used items (like my glove compartment for the library and triple AAA card after putting the relevant #'s in my PDA). Anyway... thanks for building the wallet. And a special thank you for creating the experience to enjoy.

PS Yea, I know its creepy, but I was compelled to send you a picture of my new wallet taking its place among some of my favorite GTD "gear".

Ah, come on--now I want one too. I like the concept of "if I can order it in 2 minutes I can have it". The description of that experience and the picture--exquisite! hmmmm....how quickly can I order one?

Congratulations David--as always thoughtful presentation of a product!

After reading this entry, I decided to apply the same 2 minute rule, and have purchased the Notetaker Wallet and some extra pads. I'm in the UK so have to wait a week or so for delivery. Anyway, gives me a chance to make sure everything is up to date and ready to enjoy the item when I receive it just as much as Randy did :)

Incidentally, in response to a number of posts in the forum saying that the Notetaker Wallet is too expensive. I would have to disagree. It's NOT just the wallet you get, but the pen, pads and refills.

I just purchased a Fisher Space Pen (the original one) for £35.00 GBP (approx. $63 USD). If I purchased another notepad-type wallet, along with extra pads and refills for the space pen, I would have spent around £110 GBP (approx. $198 USD!!). So David's wallet (including accessories) IS actually a blasted good deal.

Excellent blog incidentally David - very much look forward to reading it every couple of days.

All the best,
Barry

The wallet looks great. I can almost smell the leather now. You know what? I think I'm going back to paper(maybe Filofax). I understand the efficiency of synchronizing between my Palm and computer, but there is just something emotional missing in the experience. I also miss being able to lay the pages open flat, refer to them while planning, and jot down random notes complete with arrows and underlining --- and then that leather smell! Anyone similarly conflicted?

As an IT professional, it seemed hypocritical to go back to paper, but I am so happy I did. I have been working GTD with a Moleskine and love it. Paper is also a little less distracting to others than a PDA while in a meeting and I can jot things down alot quicker than I could using Grafitti.

Just took delivery of my Notetaker Wallet! I live in the UK and it only took about 5 business days to get to me from the day I purchased it online. So great service David & Co!

Even though I knew the size of the wallet, when you see it in the flesh my goodness is it small, and light, and that's with the pad and pen inside it! The pen incidentally is absolutely ideal. I thought I would replace it with my Bullet Space Pen (I love the space pens), but after seeing the Rotring, I've decided to leave it in there.

I have now put my debit card, driving licence, Staples store card, and 02 mobile phone topup card in there, along with some hard-earned cash, and now I'm ready to go.

In fact I'm so ready, that this little thing will be with me ALL THE TIME and NOT just in the evenings.

Excellent product David!! Thanks so much for making it.

Regards,
Barry

P.S. The presentation box and literature that comes with it is also first-class!
