Video from the GTD Summit - What are YOUR bad habits?

The end of last week in San Francisco about 400 movers, shakers, and GTDr's got together for the first ever "GTD Summit" at the InterContinental Hotel in San Francisco. It was a phenomenal mix of inspiration, education, and just plan great people sharing what they know.

Here is a nice video put together by David Spark from the Summit:

How would you coach the guy who made that comment at the end? It was something like, "If I put it on my calendar I know it won't get done." That sort of self-mistrust is a huge roadblock and it undermines everything we try to do. David says it's easy to fall off, easy to get back on, but when you're climbing back on don't you hear that thing in the back of your head saying, "Yeah, right. Like it's really gonna work this time."
Suggestions?

rob,

Hmm.. I don't know. I agree with your assessment that that's a huge issue. In this case I think it was just this man acknowledging that he still hasn't figured out his own relationship to the agreements on his calendar.

I guess all I can offer is that practicing GTD is about a never ending processing of renegotiating commitments with one's self and recalibrating ones approach and system of meeting those commitments. Nothing's perfect. Cycles of positive reinforcement in behavior lead to more of the same. Same in the reverse direciton. I guess just be thinkful for your systematic approach and use it when you can!

Great video! My habits are not responding to emails. That's why I adopted GTD. People don't realize that you can add programs to Outlook like Outlook Track-It, which is a followup email reminder. There are things out there for everyone.
