Many have asked if they can help fight spam in this forum, some suggesting we appoint additional moderators from the general public. For the time being, we are only giving staff the ability to prune these forums. However, there is a something that anyone can do to help us get rid of spam in this forum. In the upper right corner of each and every post there is a little "Report Bad Post" icon. It looks like this:

http://www.davidco.com/forum/images/buttons/report.gif

Simply click this icon and follow the instructions to report a bogus post. We do our best to respond quickly to these reports. We also still check the forums periodically, but by far this is the best way to ensure a bogus post gets deleted.

You can be our eyes out there to help get rid of spam, and collectively you can help us be much more effective than trying to do it all on our own. So please, if you do see a bad post, take a few seconds to report it. It's like picking up a piece of litter on a hike -- you help everyone else that comes behind you.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and for doing your part to help us keep these forums focused and ad-free!

I discovered that this icon does not appear unless you are logged in. So if you don't see it, that's why.

Thanks, good tip. This approach really seems to be working. So thanks to all who have reported spam.

but what if the link is a GOOD one, relevant to the post and will help the person who wants help.advice or anyfin else?

If the link is not spam - it is good. We are not fighting links - we are fighting spam.

I am getting PM Spam from registered users. I did not see an option to report PM's to moderators. Is there away to do that or can it be added?

Gretchen -- send them to me or better yet our web admin team:

webadmin@davidco.com

Shame we have to police this stuff to such a petty degree...

Hi

This would be my first post. I am in the rug business and would like appreciate the efforts to fight back spams which has been very big problem in the forums these days.
I think this site will be very resourceful and informative too.

Regards

Steve

We can simply add the rel="nofollow" to external links to reduce the spam link. It can also avoid to share link juice.
