Errands usage

Under which NA category should I put "to buy theatre tickets" next action? The problem is I live in a city with lots of traffic jams so it takes me minimum 1 hour to complete any errands (actually just to get there even not to compete) and I don't usually have discrete 1 hour available. So should I put it to @Errands anyway or block of time on the calendar? Have in mind that's not an urgent task. Maybe in my case @Errands becomes equal to Shopping List?

Can you buy them over the phone or on the internet and pick them up at the box office just before the event? Sounds like it would save you an hour or more. Then it can go under @Calls or @Computer.

Good idea and I use it rather often. But sometimes (and that's more often) I need to see what I buy with my own eyes :) So the Calendar is the right option for that?

I try to mix the errands in with my commuting, so that (for example) if I have "deposit check" on my @errands list, I know to keep an eye out for an ATM. Naturally this only works if it's convenient to do your errands on the way to your destination. If not, then it seems you have to make a special trip (using the calendar suggestions above), or pursue alternatives to physically driving there (also suggested above).

I put things like this on my errands list, so that I will get them if I am able. And then, I also put a calendar entry for the deadline date to get the tickets (untimed entry), so I can make sure it happens if it needs to. I can always delete the calendar entry if the errands thing did the trick!

If "going into the city" is something I would do anyway, then I would put it a context called "@city."

If I have to make a special trip, I'd put it on my errands list or I'd make an appointment in my calendar, depending on how far outside my usual routine the trip would take me.

I can't say that it's "correct," per se, as there is no single universal "correct" practice. It's correct if it's helping you to Get Stuff Done.

It does sound to me like the calendar would be the most appropriate, efficient option.

Eugene.A theater event that would be missed beyond a specific time and date should go on the calendar, then, optionally, on the @Errands list for reinforcement. Urgent or not, tasks that are no longer actionable beyond a certain point need to be identified and given the appropriate priority, and not blended in with tasks that can be done anytime. Reviewing the calendar before reviewing your action lists will prevent missing any time-committed outcomes.
