Hi guys,

I'm wondering how many GTD users are in the world.
Do you have any idea on how I could estimate this number ?

What criteria do you want to use for a "GTD user"? It's probably roughly something like (book sales)/(3 or perhaps even 2). There are a lot of people who have heard of GTD on the web, but have not read the book, but there are other people who have the book but haven't read it.

Thank you for your reply.

To be more precise, I'm wondering how many people in the world ever heard about GTD (at least know what does "GTD" stand for). What would be the order of magnitude for that number ?

I'd say it's greater that the number copies of the books sold and less than 100 time the number of books sold.

CNN report 500,000 copies sold in 2/9/07... so maybe:

5,000,000 to 50,000,000

P.S. At a recent in-house training conference about 1/10 of my colleagues had heard of the book. Assuming 300,000,000 million folks in the US, that's about 30,000,000.

Um, defining "GTD users" as "people who know what GTD stands for" seems like quite a stretch to me.... As does extrapolating a small sample of a technology-oriented workplace to the population as a whole.

You are right, Katherine. :)

Initially asking for "GTD users" was a mistake on my side.

I then realized I'm actually more interested in the number of "people who know what GTD stands for" (I certainly agree that's different from the number of actual users) ;)
