Due the abundance of information out there about "Getting Things Done" (GTD), David & Co. has responded with a web page that provides an official definition of this term: http://www.davidco.com/what_is_gtd.php

I wonder if you check completed Next Actions off and add new Next Action at the next Weekly Review or you add a new Next Action right after checking off the completed one? Eugene
As the story goes... a) my lists overwhelmed me... b) and then I stopped looking at them... c) and then I convinced myself that I did fine before GTD... d) and my new GTD-less freedom provided me with hours of www surfing (guilt free due to the lack of lists and project reminders) e) which...
It seems that @Waiting for category is more reactive. Maybe it's more acurate to put all the @Waiting for into @Call category. I.e. I'm waiting for a reply from customer on my proposal. I can put it in @Waiting for and wait, wait, wait... but I can put it in @Call like "CUSTOMER ABC: remind that...
I have the GTD Outlook addin and love it. However, I consistently have a problem with the GTD views that come with the addin reverting back to their default state. For instance, when I view "active tasks by action" I set the autoformating to highlight the tasks due today in blue. This works fine...
One of the most valuable asides I have gleened from this board is the concept of brainstorming and mind-mapping. Unless you are able to effectively process all of your collected stuff, no organizational technique will help much. What I would like to know is this; does anyone know of any...
The Italian government is considering installing a clock in the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The reason? What good is it to have the inclination if you don't have the time? Is this where the idea of doing things according to Time available, Context, Energy and Priority comes from?
About 25% of my work is done on an appointment basis (meetings) or on the basis of immediate external demands made by others (another 25%). But, the rest is up to me. But, without the externals pushing me, I have a hard time deciding on what to begin (task initiating). Once I complete an action...
I have one more question about deadlines. I understood that GTD assumes no deadlines. But what is Weekly Review process then? As I think Weekly Review is a planning process when you take Next Actions for all of your Projects, prioritize them and assign one week deadline till the next Weekly Review?...
i'm using the outlook plugin for outlook and i think it's pretty great, I need to know if I can synchronize my outlook task list with a Microsoft PDA, I have a Palm zire 71 and it's doesn't, is anyone using a microsoft pda with any success? I need to email, monitor my tasks, and if...
Trying to implement a time management system of David but there're some questions. I have about 20 projects running now. Each week I go and plan 1 next action for each of them thus resulting in 20 next actions in total for the upcoming week (can it be more then one and how to find the optimal...
Binary GTD I had been lately experiencing some coach to coach with some GTDer. One of the interesting things one of this people put in the table was a confrontation on my Definition of project, in a short story, he make it in Binary terms for me, IT IS A PROJECT OR IS NOT We had discussed...
Of the 5 GTD workflow steps, I continue to have trouble with Doing and Organizing. Regarding "organizing", I never seem to get to doing the mind-map/brainstorm/outline for the 30%-40% of my projects that need it. I save it for my weekly review, but then it eats up hours of time and I never...

I used to have a nice list of "trigger words" to use when organizing - its a big list of words to skim through as reminders for brainstotrming. Does anyone have a list like this? I got it from a post, but I can't find the post via search.
I have seen this topic discussed several times on the forums and it seems to be a common point of discussion. I recently collected my thoughts regarding this issue and thought they may be useful to someone else. Or they may be completely incorrect and someone can point me to the error of my ways. ...
Hi all, I got the GTD book a week ago and I'm looking forward to implementing it over this next slow week at work. I have a job at work where I will attend several meetings about slightly different, but related, projects. I have been taking these notes on a regular notepad. This may sound...
Say, I have a NA that will be done in four months time. If I enter it in a NA list, it means that I will invariably look at it every day and every week when I do the daily and weekly reviews respectively. How do you tackle such a problem, given that one may have many such future NAs to handle?
When doing the Weekly Review do you only look at your Calendar (for any uncompleted past items and any upcoming future actions) and the NA lists or do you also examine the whole contents of the tickler file? If I read the GTD book right, David Allen doesn't mention looking at the tickler file.
I've read through previous posts on reading more efficiently. These were great. Anybody have recommendations for a great speed-reading book or course? I have the Photo-reading course, which I went through years ago and obviously haven't put to use. Thanks, jeff
