Due the abundance of information out there about "Getting Things Done" (GTD), David & Co. has responded with a web page that provides an official definition of this term: http://www.davidco.com/what_is_gtd.php

I am thinking about getting some GTD coaching and I am wondering if anyone has experience with this. About five years ago I went to a workshop from a different kind of productivity system and it came with three sessions of telephone-based coaching. The coaching was really terrible. The first 10...
Maybe I am thinking about this all wrong or maybe i am missing something obvious. I have re-read GTD chapter 6 - Processing: Gettin "in" to Empty several times and am still confused. Some background - I have moved into a new house and spent the weekend redoing all my files as outlined by GTD. I...
I am new to this group, just finished listening to 8 CD set and looking for a place to start. I am presently using palm and interested in tips for setting up "to do" and "memo" categories for lists. Appreciate and tips and/or tricks. Look forward to being a part of this discussion group. ...
Just finsihed the tape series and set up an "in" basket but a little unsure of where to go next. My inclination is to start setting up a ton of folders for my projects. My weakness is using the project folder as my organization tool. I am a little confused about what to set up next. I am pretty...
I was wondering how some of you handle project support material? I think my main problem is keeping track of where all the information is. Let me give you an example: Suppose I have a project that is to "Write a Book." Here are all the areas where my Project Support Material might be. 1. A...
I'm a financial planner and I have a process of approaching a new prospect and turning that prospect into a client. It typically involves a few initial phone calls, an initial meeting in which I gather information and financial facts, then I prepare a written financial plan and various...
I am trying to find out how other people deal with filing (if they do) their paid bills. Also which bills they may keep and for how long. Right now I keep all my paid bills - credit cards, car insurance, life insurance, phone, cell phone, utilities, etc. Obviously this is huge amounts of paper. ...
Hi, just wondering if there are any Ecco users that would like to share their GTD setups. I've heard a lot about it and everyone seems to rave about it, thanks to Steve for posting that ftp site to dowload the app. TIA 8)
I checked GTD from the library a few weeks back, and have read this web site and lurked here on the message boards. I do not have a palm but am interested in something that would combine word/excel documents with plain old paper. Do people usually use a notebook? Note cards? I have 2 home...
The hardest thing for me right now (and traditionally) is the filing system. I used to have hanging folders bulging full of stuff. Very hard to access. I like David's idea of individual files for each item but i am still confused. I don't think my filing cabinet works without hanging folders. So if...
What are the best methods you all have found for dealing with co-workers and bosses that are NOT using GTD or, it seems, any method of management at all? I feel like this is my last barrier to "stress-free productivity". I'm starting to feel like there are only so many reminder emails and calls I...
I posted this in the Gadget forum but it is also applicable here. Im looking at implementing the GTD process and purchasing a PDA. I am a technical Program manager and I work with several teams of engineers and scientist. I am responsible for project tracking, schedules, Travel, budget etc.... I...
I have just finished a book that should be a companion volume to GTD. :-) I found myself doing the whole GTD system but still putting off the next action (as I have read others on this board do as well). I know from my past performances that I'm a chronic procrastinator. So I just read The Now...
GTD is working like majic on projects that only have a few steps but I struggle with projects that have the following characteristics:1) have a lot of component actions 2) require the use many kinds of information and from different sources (including hard data, such as technical specifications...
I saw on BN.com today that they are starting another GTD class on 7/9 and it is currently open for registration. Thought others might be interested as well. If anyone has taken the class, I'd be interested in hearing how you liked it, what you got out of it, etc.
Hey all, Quick question. When you're preparing file folders do you use all one tab position or the mixture of left, center, and right. I ask because as I create folders they are in random order and so using all 3 positions of tabs gets messy. Any thoughts?
With the discussions going on about how to plan and block time for projects, I went back to GTD and looked for more information on the topic. On page 40 where DA is discussing No More "Daily To-Do" Lists, he says: "Having a working game plan as a reference point is always useful..." On...
I've read GTD a couple of times and i'm trying to find the best way to adapt it to my current system. I'm a 27 years-old professional that works as a systems analyst for the local government. I am starting to tackle bigger projects and for the first time in my life, i'm going be managing a...
I am thinking of using GTD but would like to hear what other people have to say...specifically, I guesss I'm looking for success stories about how the system has helped. Doesn't have to be earth shattering stuff-- just want to know that it's working for some people. Thanks in advance!
