Due the abundance of information out there about "Getting Things Done" (GTD), David & Co. has responded with a web page that provides an official definition of this term: http://www.davidco.com/what_is_gtd.php

I am just starting to get the hang of GTD and have seen huge benefits myself already after 6 months of work on it. I have a team meeting coming up and want to try to sell some of the benefits without feeling like I am preaching at them. Does anyone have experience of giving tasters to try and...
Hi GTDers I have been trying to implement GTD for the last 6 months and am seeing huge benefits in my productivity and ability to move things forward. I have read David's 3 books, although I know that I still have work to turn this into free-flowing habit and get the most value out of this. I...
Ah, the age old question. I know David Allen doesn't regard keeping a dividing line as an important thing to do, but in regard to my system, I am reluctant to blend the two areas of life. I want to open this up to discussion in general, but I also have a question: I use Outlook (stock) and my...
I am fairly new to gtd and have only done a couple of weekly reviews. How should i be doing it. I just read my projects list and then go through each project plan to see where I'm at and if anything needs updating. Should I be doing more than this? More planning? Or is a weekly review just that....
I hust switched from using outlook with exchange to Google Apps and the Outlook Sync. When I start outlook now it asks me to start the addin GTD then says can add as service provider does not support. Do I need to remove and reload GTD. I now have a new profice for outlook with Google Apps.
has anyone read this book? It seems pretty contradictory to GTD from what I have read so far. I wanted to see if any of ya'll have read it and your thoughts
This is my major achievement for the weekend home work wise. Pretty pitiful, yet another good baby step toward sanity and that GTD mind like water nirvana. :) I have always kept a stack of next actions on my desk just to the left of my keyboard. The idea is it is just a few easy and time...
I completed a task yesterday and forwarded it to someone for review and approval. They want a week which is reasonable since they have to review it with several people with different work schedules. So if I was operating as I often do, right up against the deadline, I would be hurting. But...
At work I have one text document, plus a few email folders like Time Critical HOLD and HOLD and Waiting for people to respond. I have one on my cell phone for when I think of home tasks and I'm not at the home computer, and I have a monthly one on my home computer. Seems to be working for me,...
I mean, suppose you have a project that you start but then other things take priority or you just do a small action on every now and then. At what point does it become a someday / maybe? How long between planning and starting or how long between actions means that it should move from your...
I had stuff in these lists that just didn't belong there. For example, I put my work-defined yearly MBOs into my project list. This is inappropriate for at least two reasons: I don't work on every MBO at once, and because they often consist of many subprojects. So, what do I do with them? ...
Hi all I am new to this forum and to the GTD system. I have a question about how to use the next actions list and planning for a project. If I plan out a project lets say and end up with 15 actions to do to complete it. Do these go on the next action list? or do they stay on a plan somewhere,...
I understand the question seems pretty simple, but I started to really kind of wonder how everyone handles it. Example: I am writing to a number of employers right now trying to obtain a jobs with their firms. So if I had to go by physical next actions it would be - Draft email - Review...
Hello Fellow GTDers, I'm looking for input from anyone with experience creating a proposal on bringing GTD to your company, specifically the internal GTD train the trainer offering by the David Allen Co. I work for a fortune 100 corp and am going to create a proposal to have me and a peer...
Came up with a kitchen trash bag full of ill-fitting shirts and ones I just never wear. Besides feeling good and getting a tax deduction for donating to charity, I discovered a bunch of good shirts that got buried in the mess over with the winter clothes, so I am wearing one today. But the main...
Does anyone have, or have links to a textual template of the 5 Phases of Project Planning?
I've just mass replied to the other thread I started, Never Seeing an Empty Next Action List.. and must thank everyone for truly wondering, and sublime advice...but of course with wanting to evolve in the system another question arises; one that I kinda touched base with my reply in that thread: ...
This is my first post on this thread, I'm currently a student at Rutgers taking a course in Social Informatics, working on a research paper on how smartphones are impacting our productivity. Being a disciple of the GTD book and methodology, I use my iPhone in any way I can to help me to "get...
Hey folks, Some snippets of David in an interview on the BBC ClickOnline website - talking about productivity. Sievert.
Hello. I'm just setting up my GTD implementation and I'm confused about some of the paper-based workflow. I'd appreciate people's thoughts on where is best to store paper-based items where I have a longer-than-two-minutes action. For example: Item in my inbox: Credit card statement. ...
