Due the abundance of information out there about "Getting Things Done" (GTD), David & Co. has responded with a web page that provides an official definition of this term: http://www.davidco.com/what_is_gtd.php

  1. Project List

I am currently using a Moleskine as my GTD system. I am confused about the Project section. Should I just have the project title and the outcome or am I supposed to detail all the various steps in each project page? If so, is it normal to have a pages and pages about projects?

  2. Projects about not-doing

Hello, What are your thoughts on projects that are about becoming better at NOT doing something. Like, say, quitting smoking or becoming better at not drinking in social occasions?

  3. Address book

Hi Im looking for an address book service preferably online which would let me tag a contact with multiple ids. E.g multiple gtd projects. I would like the ability to send email to the folks with various tags as a group. Please let me know if you have used something similar.

  4. Big homogeneous tasks

I wanted to ask you how do you put big homogeneous tasks in your system? For example sorting like 400 bookmarks that require you to visit each page to decide if you want to keep it and how to tag it. I have tried with action like "Sort 20 of bookmarks" which was recreated after each 20. But...

  5. Adapt to company's interruptive culture ?

So, David talks about the best way to send/delegating 'stuff' is to do it via email. So people on the own times can process it w/o being "all up in your face about it". At the company i work for there is a lot of in your face people. Alot of people kind of act like chickens with their heads...

  6. How to strike a balance between fun, admin, progression and improving your life?

Hi everyone, Has anyone found a good way to balance having fun, doing admin, working on progressing (in all areas of life), and nourishing their current situation? I'm in the beginning stages of implementing GTD. I have my areas of focus, projects and N/A context lists set up, but I find I...

  7. Question Book title question from a recent GTD podcast, Drawing on the Napkin.

The title I wrote down was Drawing on the Napkin. I don't remember which podcast, and Amazon has no such book. They do have The Back of the Napkin (Expanded Edition): Solving Problems and Selling Ideas with Pictures Is that the book to which David was referring, or perhaps another by that author?

  9. Basic Question about Project List

I have a list of projects stated in successful outcomes. There are over 20 (professional life only). This week I realized during my Weekly Review, that my ASAP PROJECT file folders did NOT match my Project List. My Someday/Maybe area in my drawer did NOT match my "Someday/Maybe" list. I spent...

  11. Sports: projects or areas of focus?

Could you please help me formulate the name of the projects. I'm in for sports playing tennis (two times a week) and lifting weights (three times a week). I want to put that on my project list. There's no any particular finish line for these projects. I play tennis to support my cardio system and...

  12. Delegated projects: review and working with assistant

Recently I got a personal assistant. One of her responsibilities is to control all the tasks I delegate. I need to line up my work with her. I'm a manager so delegate a lot. I delegate on the run. Usually by email with a copy to her so she make a note in an excel sheet with all the tasks I...

  13. Depth first - breadth first

I think practice of putting only one next physical action on the next action list encourages doing them in breadth first order. One from one project then one from another and so on. It is fine for ping-pong actions where I have for example to send something to someone and wait. But for tasks...

  15. Project tasks beyond the next action

Apologies in advance for what feels like a stupid question, but: Say I'm processing/organising a task, and realise that once I've done that, there'll be an action straight afterwards (say, 'review notes', followed by 'email summary to my boss'). I'll set up a next action (or put it in the...

  16. Multiple GTD Systems

I am about 1/3 of the way through the book but I am demoing ways to impliment this system. One of which is the Netcentric Outlook Add-In. The question I have, and may be answered later in the book, so I applogize if it is, is it "correct" to have 2 seperate GTD systems? I am watching the videos...

  20. Due dates vs calendar / regular appointments

Hi. Just starting out on using GTD properly (and using Things for Mac and iPhone to help with that). Couple of things where I'm not quite clear on the best way to handle them: Due dates vs calendar entries. Things offers due dates, but the GTD book doesn't seem to mention due dates at all,...
