I was just looking around this site some more and stumbled on the description of telecoaching. This is something I've thought of before and may consider someday. Then it it me - this should be on my someday/maybe list! So now it is.
Has anyone here tried telecoaching and did you find it enlightening and worthwhile? Did it add another dimension to reading the books?
I did telecoaching with Meg Edwards. In just one session, I can tell you I felt I advanced my GTD practice way beyond my wildest expectations. I've been using GTD for many years, I'm a Connect member, I've read all the books, and have most of the audio products so I'm not new to GTD. And yet it was time and money very well spent.
The coaches gear the sessions to YOUR needs...YOUR system...nothing else really does that. I learned tips, tricks...you name it.
Highly recommend!
I am getting very close to moving this off my someday/maybe to an actual project. Ironically, one of the things that has held me back from really moving forward with this in the past has been the feeling that my system should be/look better than it is before I show someone from DavidCo :)
the recent mastery webinar and the weekly review CDs has shown me that there are a lot of subtulties that I could get from personalized coaching.

Maybe Kelly will create a Forum topic called "GTD Prison". When she sees an extreme violation, she'll move the post to that thread. :p

All GTD violations are noted on your permanent record. The same one that you were threatened with by teachers growing up. It carries with you through your adult years.

- Every email you open, close and mark unread
- Every time you do paper Inbox roulette looking for an easier thing to handle
- Every time you create a next action without a verb

Have you heard that expression, cleaning for the maid? It's about cleaning the house before the person you've hired to clean shows up. I've done that before coaching and telecoaching sessions. I've also tried the opposite, where I let all my dirty laundry hang out unverbed on ambiguous lists. Yes, I've tried both. It's far better to let it all hang out and let the coach do her/his work with me on my real situation, not my fantasy of what I should be. I encourage anyone who is considering coaching or telecoaching to go for it before you clean up your house. Believe me, the coaches have seen messier houses.
