Check out the book "the war of art" its all about htis inner resistance. Really worthwhile book.
I'd add that pre-planning priorities does work so I disagree with David stating that they don't. To me, if something is important enough I will make sure I'm in the right context no matter what, I...
I'm yet to read the replies but my initial thoughts are that I agree with you for the most part in that I think GTD is great at getting things done and getting A LOT of thing done with great clarity...
Depends if what you're doing is what you want to be doing. If you enjoy it, if it makes you feel, happy, engaged, satisfied then its all good.
Ok we'll it's actually something I learn from a book called ZTD. But simply put, every evening I will empty my inbox and then scan my next list picking the tasks I want to complete the next day. I...
Haha cool.
If this is for me, I don't quite know what you mean by "closed lists". Do you mean my planned tasks ahead of time?
Hmm yes I do schedule certain house tasks to be done but two other things to keep in mind to help you out in this area (other than scheduling) is 1) learn to do things as you go like cleaning as you...
Just teach them to capture everything and how to make sense of the gtd daily workflow. Oh and give them a system to get it done on like an iphone app (Things, etc).
If you have to separate your work from the fun stuff you've probably made the wrong career choice ;)
But to the OP, yes action lists are generally never ending, thats normal, what I do to combat...
Do you seriously sleep and rise at those times consistently? I just find life to never be that forgiving much like the philosophy behind GTD with its 'in the moment' decision making based on the...
Good talk. I can see how many people new to GTD might be like "wtf is he talking about" somewhat because its such a new way of thinking it takes time to understand. It did me anyway.
I think the bottom line is if getting up at 5.30am suits you and your schedule then do so, but if it doesn't then don't.
I'd say "Things". 3 years plus with them and very pleased. Very simple, And get things done.
I actually found once I reached peak levels of minimalism in my life it kind of eradicates the need for a complex productivty system like gtd.
I still like to use key gtd elements but I hardly...
You most likely need to realise the power of less, begin to edit your life and minimalise all but the essential things (it takes weeks if not months to create a minimalist lifestyle but its worth it,...
Eat better foods and get fitter, and you'll soon have the energy.
Or do you really mean, motivation?
Blimee. Keep things simple.
You should have an AOF "Health & Fitness" within that area put "go play tennis" as a single action!
If this is whats truly most important to you why isn't it your work? I'd think about a change of career or forget it. Unless its part of your work you have no chance of doing anything meaningful...
That's a good question, Kel. Do you mind answering it yourself?
Lesson: Simplifying your lists and your life down to its barest of essentials, eliminates the need for complex planning systems. Period.
Not many people realise this despite the fact that they've...
