Another thought that comes to my mind is that perhaps there is some stuff going on at the higher levels (areas of focus, longer term goals) that you haven't thought through lately? So that means the...
There are so many possible bells & whistles around GTD that it can get confusing, overwhelming, and even set you back... The diamond in the rough with GTD is the simple thought process - the...
IMNSHO, it's precisely that "moment-to-moment re-evaluation of priorities" that is one of the major (positive) differentiators of GTD. Our work and life these days demands that kind of flexibility....
Once you've got the set-up you like and your backlog is processed it's really about maintenance, being aware of what's continuing to work and what's not, and building in the habits to keep it going....
Darn! I'm going to be in London on April 11th - can he do something there then?! ;)
Yes, you could definitely say that you're more relaxed when you're more productive, couldn't you? But at the risk of assuming too much, I'm thinking David would self-identify as being in the...
I remember it as "Your ability to be productive is directly proportional to your ability to relax"... and it's so true! :D
In my case, I have two discrete systems. My work system is in the company-sanctioned Outlook, and my personal system is a hybrid of paper & Evernote. I've done paper for both, but it's just so much...
My husband and I have a YouTube channel, but I don't think it's what you're looking for - it's all about advanced furniture and decorative arts restoration techniques! Nevertheless, here's the link:...
The different levels are actually interrelated; they don't refer to different kinds of "tasks."
So - you're 50K (vision, purpose) informs the 3-5 year goals you have at the 40K level, which in...
Thanks for the reminder of that simple "order of things..." I'm still seduced by my email in box siren, so I will, from now on, check my lists FIRST, email SECOND! That will be my new mantra (along...
At the risk of splitting hairs, you would have multiple next action lists, sorted by context (e.g. @computer example given by mcogilvie above)... they would be comprised of project-associated and...
Why, thank you! And I agree - I would have loved to work with him. I was working at Polaroid, in a group of "change agents," and I really found myself envying Hallmark for having someone like him!!
Orbiting the Giant Hairball by Gordon MacKenzie. Still one of my all-time favourite "corporate culture" books.
I totally agree. I also agree with someone else on this thread who said that the five reports aren't Areas of Focus - "Staff Productivity/Success" (or however you want to word it) would be. And...
I would think the only "micro-managey" thing about what you've said is that you run through their AOF, etc. at your regular meetings. Surely it's enough to just have them report back on what they're...
This is eerily reminiscent of being an executive assistant! On any given day, a certain percentage of my "sheep" will need assistance. I have a list of phone numbers to call when there is an...
The idea is to keep your time-specific (what I believe you're referring to as "pre-schedules") events and anything that must be done that day on the calendar.
The idea behind this is that so many...
The collection process is different than your eventual Projects List. You've gotten a lot of useful information in this thread, but I would just say - don't get confused between the collection phase...
From the GTD book: "To manage actionable things, you will need a list of projects, storage or files for project plans and materials, a calendar, a list of reminders of next actions, and a list of...
