If it's a potential task I'd always enter into Omnifocus inbox (for later processing)
I do use Evernote as a capture tool for text notes, voice notes or photographs. My default notebook is @inbox,...
I'm using Omnifocus, which positively encourages you to capture into it's inbox throughout the day and then process in batches. Were I to be using my previous list managers (Outlook and Toodledo) I...
I used to view separating collect and organise as a waste of time, however I now recognise them as very separate processes that use different cognitive functions. As a result the quality of my system...
If you're using Exchange on Outlook, try iMExchange. Syncs both tasks and notes reliably.
That might be worth doing, because remember that you'll have to pay 20% VAT on top of the total bill.
What matters to me is not mixing up action items with reference material. I choose to keep all old emails as reference material, so when processing my inbox I note any actions associated with an...
I am currently involved in a legal dispute with my ex-employer (I left in 2001) regarding shares that were transferred back to him without my permission. I dearly wish I had kept EVERY email from...
Sounds like you need to listen to the "Digging out from backlog" webinars. I found them extremely helpful and no longer have that "overwhelmed" feeling.
Faced with that problem, I'd do the following:
1. Get everything into one folder
2. Delete duplicates (there's bound to be some!)
3. Sort by date, then put the very old files you want to keep in...
I probably have a skim through my reference files and purge anything I no longer want to keep on a monthly basis.
I'm moving most of my archived stuff into digital format, using a Scansnap...
I used to use Outlook with the iPhone and found the only reliable synch was using iMexchange - reliable but somewhat slow. I went through several months of pain trying to get toodledo to synch...
I'd probably re name it to GTD but I've had a "Planning" key area (as I used to call AOF) for many years, before I'd heard the term AOF!
I have an area of focus called "Planning" (not very inspiring I know, but I know what it means) and I'd put any brainstorming around AOF, goals and also checklists under that section.
As for...
Maybe that's why there's no replies? Personally I haven't used an index card for 20 years, but then I am a digital geek!
For longer projects I like to set milestones and give those a due date, so that I know things are running to schedule.
My general reference folder has several hundred documents. I just throw them in there with meaningful names and let Spotlight do the rest.
When I was on Windows 7 I had a similar arrangement and...
Top-level I have 8 folders: an In box, Areas of Focus, Current Projects, Action Support, To Read, Someday, General Reference, Waiting for. I'm not quite sure why you're aiming for a specific number...
I'm with Bishblaize on this one. I've certainly noticed ideas popping up during meditation, which I happily let go, knowing that they'll come back to me later when I can deal with them appropriately....
