Not motivated by a next action

I need to sync my new iPad HD to have all the content as on the iPad 2. I was trying to formulate the next action as:

- Look for a new iPad in the living room to connect to the comp for sync
- Connect new iPad to the comp for sync
- ...

I would say none of them motivate me to stand up and do I would better use my old iPad 2 instead...

I'm not sure what all the factors are here, but if the first step is to stand up,
it might help to start by wiggling your toes, taking some deep breaths, saying
something aloud, etc.

Easy. Wait until the iPad2 goes slow enough to bug you, and then you'll be motivated to do it.

Alternatively, next time you walk to the living room, collect the new iPad and move it to the bottom of the stairs (assuming the computer's upstairs). Next time you walk upstairs, take whatever's waiting at the bottom of the stairs. Next time you look at your list, it'll already be next to the computer. From then on, set it to sync over wifi.

OK, ask the why question: why do I not want to use my new iPad? Buyer's remorse? Fear of setup problems? If you are resisting a next action, it's always good to ask why.

I don't know if you're able to keep everything in iCloud (apps, files, etc.) but the two times I've upgraded have been a breeze because the new device will sync with whatever you have in the cloud... no reinstalling software, no connecting to your computer. If you're outside the U.S. you might not be close to an Apple store, but if you are, have an Apple Genius take a look at it if you're having problems syncing.

If the problem is motivation... um... can't really help you there.

Ha, I do this all the time. Save me many a trip up or downstairs and its so much easier to be motavated to put stuff in its proper place if it all belongs in the same area. Divide and conquer!

Maybe looking for something isn't very motivating because there's uncertainty about
whether you'll find it or not. You could try re-wording or re-thinking the action to
define it as "done" whether you find the ipad or not. Maybe "Look on top of 5 pieces of
furniture to find out whether ipad is there or not". That way you can check that
action off as "done" without spending an infinite amount of time searching,
which would be hard.
After that's done you can decide what the next action is: further searching in
the same room, searching in other rooms, buying a replacement ipad, or whatever.
