Default Looking for simple Text app

For windows (desktop), i'm looking for a simple text app like wordpad. But is able to window itself as "also on top of other windows". I've tried using plugins to allow windowed app to come to the forefront, but those plugins dont work on all apps.

    Default Deskpins

This simple free programme allows any window to stay on top. Very simple to use and low on resources. Deskpins: http://deskpins.en.softonic.com/
    Also BDV notepad: http://www.bdvnotepad.com/products/bdv-notepad/
    And Metapad: http://liquidninja.com/metapad/

Default How about using Alt-Tab to switch between apps?

I've found that the "Stay on top" feature is very buggy, and works when you don't want it to or puts things there that you don't need. My workaround has been to use multiple monitors if possible. Then you can keep your text app running in one monitor and the "work" in the other.

If that is not possible then I use Alt-Tab to scroll through open applications. Once you have the two or three apps your working in open, using Alt-Tab to switch between them, this will keep the most recently accessed applications as the first ones available.

I use and love Notepad++. It is feature rich, and has a small learning curve, and it is open source and free, with a lot of plug-ins for different uses such as programming, outlining, etc.

    Good luck with this...

Thanks for the advice on the text editors.
But after trying them out, what i'm really looking for is something similar to iA Writer. Sadly they dont make a windows version.
