I would echo that! The purpose of a filing system is to locate stuff quickly. I use gmail and their search is so good I can find any email within a minute or two, usually in seconds. I have almost completely abandoned folders (tags in gmail) in favour of search.

The tools for searching on the desktop aren't as good but I'm sure there is a sweet spot between a finely detailed system and a highly searchable setup.
