What I can't show, in a workflow coaching or in a seminar, is the "before" picture I see when I think of how I used to manage all this stuff. I wasn't a slacker, I always did well, but it was always at a cost. Working on weekends, staying at work past dinner, always thinking about tomorrow.
Having a simple system, that's not simplistic, has been a life-saver. When I demonstrate what it takes to manage the agreements like we teach, I just show people the answers to two questions.
I have answered these two questions about every piece of paper, every e-mail, every voice mail, everything that I've seen once in my inbasket:
1) What's the successful outcome? and
2) What's the next action?
The answers, then, to those two questions are what fill my @Calls, @Computer, @Home, etc. lists. No more, no less...
