I'm still a rookie at this, but I take all my notes on a yellow notepad. If I know it's an action item for me, I put a little box next to it. Then when I get back to my desk, I go over the notes. If it's my meeting, I publish the meeting minutes, so I have to "process" the notes anyway. In any case, going over the notes after the meeting gives me a chance to apply the processing model to each note. So, at the end I end up with some next steps for me, delgated tasks for others, reference info that goes into the appropriate document, and stuff that gets tossed. Seems to be working for me. By the way, I used to bring a keyboard for my Palm to meetings to take notes directly into it, but everybpdy got really quiet when I set it up.
