Default Need help - Turbulence at 40,000

I'm a GTDer since june. During first 3 months, I noticed an amazing improvement in personal productivity but now I have some difficulties.

I've tried to find the leaks in my collecting, processing, organizing, reviewing and doing steps. Everything seems fine except for doing. After all my lists are done, I don't feel like making phone calls, writing emails or talking to people. I just feel for distraction and procrastination.

I had a intuition today: problems seems to have occurred at the same time I was looking for a career change, creating an 40,000 feet open loop. I'm on requestionning process about my job, my employer, starting my own business, etc. And I can't find any way out. It disturb completely my lower altitude levels.

If awareness is the first step to solve the problem, what should be the next one?

    What's the next action?

Ultimately, the only way out is to decide what you're going to do, and then act on that decision. Until then, you don't know what even belongs on your runway.

    Good luck!

What do you really want in your life? What do you seem to have been built to do?

Do those match your Projects list?

First things I did this morning:

    1) I add new project on my list: Look at a plan for my life
    2) I also add on my NA list: Brainstorm on a life plan.

Even if I haven't done anything about that today, it helped me a lot to get out of distraction and procrastination, at least for today.

    Hi sonturk,

consider this: GTD is there to help you for years to come. You'll see many jobs, probably. You'll experience fun, crisis, doubt, whatever - and GTD is by your side. It's just a tool that helps you, especially when your mind just can't focus. Like an autopilot.

Since you're investigating new options for your career, it should be obvious that your current job doesn't satisfy you. So what. Use GTD to make sure this feeling doesn't hurt your work performance too badly. Use your remaining time to make your employer and colleagues wish you wouldn't leave.

With respect to the next step after awareness: talk to those who know you well. Get a grasp on your old dreams. Re-experience, in your mind, similar situations in your career - the doubts, the fears, and how they vanished once you had made a decision.

Whatever you do, don't expect miracles from your personal organization system but don't give it up, either. Treat GTD like your car.
