Default I need small (A4) manila folders in the UK - help!

    Evening all

I recently acquired a rather nice old filing cabinet. Looks vaguely military but it's nice and deep, has exceptionally robust runners and 4 drawers not 3 so it should actually allow me to finally consolidate all of my exciting (!) assortment of storage places.

    HOWEVER...

it's very narrow. I can get A4 sheets in it but I've measured and the drawers are actually 307mm wide (which I suspect was originally designed as being 12 inches) and I can't find folders anywhere to fit it. Can anyone help?

If it comes to it, I'll have to just buy normal foolscap and guillotine them, but it seems like a bit of an effort so I thought I'd ask the experts first!

    Many thanks in advance

    A

Ah, trying to get office supplies in the UK... one of the greatest frustrations of this little island.

Default Not found tabbed A4 manilla folders

I use square cut folders for my general A-Z, same as RuthMcT. It may be more difficult to see the label compared to tabbed folders, but on the other hand you can have very long labels.

I want to get new folders for my tickler, and I've done extensive searching and not found what I'm looking for. That is, folders like the American, pale yellow, tabbed manilla folders, but A4. The American folders are not wide enough; A4 papers stick out. Foolscap is too wide for my file box. I found a kind made by Elba, but they are too flimsy for a tickler (180 gram paper).

It seems so simple, yet remains ellusive. If anyone finds a source, please post a pointer!

    TC,
    Christina

I order mine from Germany. Classei.com. They come in various weights and with sticky tabs, so they are fairly flexible. I ordered a few hundred and am still chewing through them. They just might last me a life time

I once found some tabbed folders in the UK but didn't like the poor quality of the manila. I use the hanging thingies to put the folders in and label them instead.

You can get A4 tabbed folders from www.euroffice.co.uk. They only come in one weight which I found to be a bit flimsy. I've got a few here which I don't use because I now buy the foolscap size which comes in several weights. Even these are 315mm wide!

If you're location is near Gatwick airport, I'd be happy to let you have a few folders to check out whether they'd be suitable for you.
    Best wishes

    Thanks folks

Elba just got back to me; their A4 folders are 330mm across which is the same as one of the few that Staples published dimensions for on their website. I'm guessing that A4 (297mm) plus about an inch gives you that standard size.

    Hmmm....

I have a horrible feeling that I'm ultimately going to have to get A4 files and guillotine a big pile of them. Oh well. I guess this is where productivity and interior design clash...
