Over the years I have tried many different organisation systems to improve my work/life balance and to increase my personal effectiveness at work. Like many people I found my way to David Allen’s Getting Things Done system. I implemented David’s approach and saw some immediate benefits from the GTD approach but I always felt there was something I was not quite getting. I started reading about Telecoaching on the Davidco website. Although hesitant about it at first, after an initial contact with Meg Edwards I was convinced that it was a good way to access some expert assistance. Meg recommended using Skype to save on the cost of International phone calls and Go To Meeting to allow her to see my desktop. This was particularly useful as I use Lotus Notes at work and have setup most of my GTD system in Notes folders. During the first coaching session, with Meg’s assistance I got through my monthly, Weekly Review in a matter of 20 minutes and simplified my Project List. Apart from the obvious process improvement suggestions that Meg made, I came away with an alternative way of thinking about both my work and how the GTD methodology could be applied. Even though I live in Australia and cannot access David's seminars directly, telecoaching with Meg really helped bridge the gap between what I was able to achieve by reading the book, implementing the system myself and truly being on the path to becoming a GTD blackbelt! Rolf Winkler QANTAS Airways When I found Meg my life really began to shift, in profound ways. Her experience with people like me who were unaware of their particular challenges and gifts (ADD), allowed me to begin to see myself in a very grounded and effective way. Her gentle, and consistent encouragement led to me getting a much clearer picture of myself and my particular gifts and challengesand how to use them to my advancement and expansion. The consistency of working with a wise coach like Meg has been such a powerful part of me really coming into my rightful place and making my contributions in life, as well as much greater levels of success in my work life. The consistency has moved me to a new level of living and being. John O'Connor, MA Certified Financial Planner I have been a consistent user and fan of GTD for the last 2 years. I had come to a stand-still and certain frustrations were building up with my use of the tool and methodology. Meg was able to very quickly see how I was practicing GTD day by Day and recommend some very eye opening strategies that have allowed me to get another tremendous bump in my productivity. I was amazed that after one hour how much I had learned. After 5 weeks - I can say it was one of the best hours I have spent in a long time. Glenn Gleason Sr VP of the Dewey Companies My discovery of David Allen's book coincided with a change in the
direction of my career, and was instrumental in helping me get my arms,
and mind, around my new role. However, I was aware that to derive
maximum benefit from the GTD approach and process, I needed to be able
to have an ongoing dialogue with someone who was using it successfully
on an ongoing basis, and from whom I could learn in real time, based on
my personal needs and circumstances.
So I engaged with Meg Edwards for a telecoaching program, in which
she led me from basic principals through to fine tuning the weekly
review process. As a result of her disciplined approach, combined with
her challenging my thinking to ensure I focused on next steps, by the
end of the fourth session I had learned and practiced all I needed to
make it a core part of my week, both in the office and at home. For
those who really want to embed the GTD process in their lives,
telecoaching is an excellent way to make this happen." Mark Bidwell Senior Director, Process Optimization The Day & Zimmermann Group, Inc. |
