Hi everyone! I'm so enthused with the initial responses to our new GTD Workflow Map that I can't help giving it another mention this time. I recently shared the Map with a very sophisticated group of corporate learning professionals, and they were blown away. One of them, a GTDer already, said that one part of the map (the "three-fold nature of work") clarified immediately something he had not really grasped before, simply because of the visual representation. I'm so thrilled that this new poster, with its companion DVD, is proving to be a valuable tool for both new learners of GTD as well as "old-timers" in the process. All the best,
DAVID'S FOOD FOR THOUGHTDIRECTION, NOT PERFECTIONA big "aha!" in my life and work has been: Go for direction, not perfection. I was reminded of this with a phone call following up with an executive I coached. When I work with people individually, they get to taste what it really might be like to have a clear head, a feeling of control of all their responsibilities, and trust in a system that can easily maintain that as an on-going reality. We can actually create that reality in a few hours. The trick is maintaining the simple habit changes it requires, after I leave. This person said "I haven't gotten yet to full implementation, but it's going in the right direction." He had processed more of his "pending piles", he was capturing action items as they were appearing, and was increasingly populating his new project and action reminder system with the results. Bravo. The first step to change is really seeing what the new world might actually be like. The second is carving a path to get there. I can fairly easily deliver both of those to my clients, relative to personal organization. The third is a whopper of a challenge: keeping on keeping on, even when you fall.
